How you’ll make a difference

Victoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a part-time Night Patrol Officer based in Yarralin, NT.

This position is required to work as part of a team to assist all members of the community that maybe at risk of harming or being harmed, providing alternative solutions to ensure their safety and well-being.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. Deliver culturally appropriate assistance to people at risk or either causing harm or being harmed.
2. Conduct patrols in the community and surrounding area to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents is maintained.
3. Establish good relationships with community members to enable engagement.
4. Ensure any persons at risk are relocated to a safe environment.
5. Work as a team to prevent anti-social, destructive and illegal behaviours.
6. Encourage the diversion of intoxicated people away from unnecessary adverse contact with the criminal justice system.
7. Provide advice, information or referrals to persons requiring further assistance.
8. Liaise and work with the Local Police Force on issues regarding criminal activity and safety.
9. Work in partnership with schools, health clinics, sobering up shelters, safe houses, women’s refuges and other services in community.
10. Maintain a safe staff working environment.
11. Ensure that proper Work Health & Safety regulations set by Council are adhered to.
12. Carry out any other duties as directed by the Night Patrol Team Leader.  

What you’ll bring to the team

Education Requirements

1. Proven ability to work as part of a small team.
2. Ability to be able to safely handle Chemicals. 
3. Ability to be able to carry out cleaning duties that are of a physical nature.
4. An awareness of the principles of WHS 

Other Requirements

1. 1. Criminal History Check (issued within the last 3 months)
   2. Current Working with Children’s Clearance (Ochre Card)
   3. A valid driver’s licence
