Expression of Interest Opportunities 

Victoria Daly Regional Council is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the following positions on Council’s Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC):

• Independent Chairperson
• Independent Committee Member

These are independent governance positions which support Council in fulfilling its oversight and accountability responsibilities.

About the Audit & Risk Management Committee

The Audit and Risk Management Committee operates in accordance with Part 5.3 of the Local Government Act 2019 (NT). The Committee supports Council in monitoring and reviewing:

• Financial reporting and financial management
• Risk management practices
• Internal and external audit activities
• Legislative compliance
• Governance and accountability processes
• Internal controls and organisational oversight

The Committee provides independent advice and oversight to support good governance practices across Council.

What We're Looking For

Council is seeking individuals with experience or knowledge in areas such as:

• Governance
• Risk management
• Finance or accounting
• Audit
• Legal or compliance
• Public administration
• Organisational leadership
• Strategic oversight

Experience working with local government, boards, committees or public sector organisations will be highly regarded.

Key Information 

Appointment Term

• Independent members are appointed for a two-year term and may be eligible for reappointment.

Meeting Frequency

• The Committee generally meets four times per year.

Meeting Format

• Meetings may be attended in person or via electronic audio-visual means.

Location

• Applicants must reside in the Northern Territory.

Sitting Fees

Current sitting fees are:

• Chairperson: $800 per meeting
• Committee Member: $600 per meeting
