A rewarding role - in more ways than one
Victoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a Part-time Community Night Patrol Officer based in Yarralin, NT.
The Community Night Patrol Officer plays a key role in providing a safe, respectful, and culturally appropriate Community Night Patrol service, supporting community wellbeing, safety, and positive engagement.
In this job, you will patrol the community, build trust with local residents, and work closely with services such as schools, health clinics, and shelters. Your work will help keep people safe and connect them with the right support.
How you'll make a difference
We are looking for a compassionate individual who possess a strong sense of integrity and a positive attitude towards health and well-being. If you have a background in community safety and a knack for building relationships, we want you on our team.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ensure children are at home or in another safe location with a parent or carer at night.
- Remind parents that they have a responsibility to provide a safe, quiet place for
children to sleep. - Maintain client confidentiality.

Day-to-day duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Assist the team leader in the recording and reporting of incidents and assistance
provided. - Provide consistent and regular community night patrols in the community.
- Work in partnership with schools, health clinics, sobering-up shelters, safe houses and
women’s refuges and other services in the community. - Provide advice, information and/or assistance that may reduce vulnerability to individuals.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Night Patrol Team Leader.
This is a part-time position that offers a competitive hourly rate with other benefits including 7 weeks of annual leave with 17.5% leave loading and a remote area allowance. You will also have access to professional development opportunities to further your career in community safety.

Ideal Candidate profile
You will bring:
- Strong communication skills.
- Accurate recordkeeping and written communication ability.
- Ability to work in the afternoon and night.
Other requirements:
- Criminal History Check (recent within 3 months).
- A current Working with Children’s Card.
- A current unrestricted Driver’s Licence.
- A Current First Aid Certificate (Essential or willing to obtain).
