 About the Role

Are you passionate about strengthening good governance and building organisational integrity?

This role offers the chance to shape council‑wide systems that genuinely make a difference across remote Northern Territory communities. As our Governance and Risk Manager, you’ll work closely with the CEO, Council and executive team to champion accountability, transparency and strategic alignment across everything we do.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Lead the development and continuous improvement of governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Conduct scheduled reviews across the organisation to identify risks and support effective mitigation.
  • Work as the secretariat for the Audit Risk and Management Committee, ensuring smooth operations and strong follow‑through.
  • Maintain council-wide registers, policies and statutory documents required under legislation.
  • Provide strategic research, reports and advice directly to the CEO and Council.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Design and implement a modern governance, risk and compliance framework that sets the benchmark for the organisation.
  • Lead organisation‑wide reviews that proactively identify vulnerabilities and drive practical improvements.
  • Strengthen governance capability and support executive leaders.
  • Oversee audit actions and ensure accountability by tracking, reporting and closing out recommendations.
  • Act as an authorised officer for integrity matters, supporting whistleblower protections and statutory obligations.

Other Requirements

  1. Criminal History Check (recent, within 3 months).
  2. A current Working with Children’s Card (Ochre Card).
  3. A current unrestricted Drivers Licence.
