Role Overview

The Community Broadcasting Officer helps run the local community radio station and supports daily broadcasting activities. The role works with community members to create local content, keeps the station’s website updated, and helps care for radio equipment. It also involves talking with stakeholders and community groups to support the station and encourage community involvement.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic about community engagement and has a flair for creativity. Your role will include:

  1. Ability to be able to speak publicly to members of the community 

  1. Demonstrated skills in radio presentation 

  1. Knowledge of basic computer systems and software applicable to the position 

  1.  Knowledge of the relevant Australian Indigenous language for the location.  

  1. Previous experience and knowledge of, or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of broadcasting services. 

  1. Previous experience in working with indigenous people or in situations requiring sensitivity to cultural differences 

Being able to connect with the community and share their stories is an important part of this job. You’ll get the chance to speak on air and represent what our community is all about.

Education Requirements

  • Certificate III in Media & Broadcasting or willing to obtain 

Other Requirements

  • Criminal History Check (recent within 3 months)  

  • A current Working with Children’s Card

  • A current Drivers Licence
