How you’ll make a difference
Victoria Daly Regional Council is looking for a part-time Night Patrol Officer based in Pine Creek, NT. (60 hours per fortnight)
This position is required to work as part of a team to assist all members of the community that maybe at risk of harming or being harmed, providing alternative solutions to ensure their safety and well-being.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deliver culturally appropriate assistance to people at risk or either causing harm or being harmed.
- Conduct patrols in the community and surrounding area to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents is maintained.
- Establish good relationships with community members to enable engagement.
- Ensure any persons at risk are relocated to a safe environment.
- Work as a team to prevent anti-social, destructive and illegal behaviors.
- Encourage the diversion of intoxicated people away from unnecessary adverse contact with the criminal justice system.
- Provide advice, information or referrals to persons requiring further assistance.
- Liaise and work with the Local Police Force on issues regarding criminal activity and safety.
- Work in partnership with schools, health clinics, sobering up shelters, safe houses, women’s refuges and other services in community.
- Maintain a safe staff working environment.
- Ensure that proper Work Health & Safety regulations set by Council are adhered to.
- Carry out any other duties as directed by the Night Patrol Team Leader.

Education Requirements
- Ability to work with limited supervision and direction.
- Personal integrity.
- Good interpersonal skills and friendly disposition.
- A high level of fitness and positive attitude toward health and well-being.
- Relevant industry knowledge in the field of Night Patrol Services.
- Well-developed communication and negotiation skills and the ability to be sensitive.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality.
- A working knowledge of WHS regulations.
- Previous experience in a similar roll

- Criminal History Check (issued within the last 3 months)
- Current Working with Children’s Clearance (Ochre Card)
- A valid driver’s licence
