As such, we now have an exciting opportunity for a creative and solution-driven Communications Officer to join our friendly and hardworking team and help us develop and implement a robust communications program that allows us to showcase the fantastic work that we do and the beautiful stories of communities in the region.

Newly created opportunity 

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, your key responsibility will be to establish strong Council public relations promotions and communications through publications, the Council’s website and various media sources to uplift the Council’s branding.

Core duties:

  • Development and implementation of communication strategies
  • Community and other stakeholder engagement
  • Content creation and distribution
  • Tracking, monitoring and reporting of strategy traction and digital media analytics

You will also assist the Mayor, Chief Executive Officer, Council Managers, and other Victoria Daly Regional Council members in dealing with journalists and the media.

Our next superstar

We are now looking for a proactive and passionate public relations professional who possesses a tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communication strategies is also essential.

In this role, you will travel to communities in the region, develop content, and share community stories with the broader area. As such, you will need to be understanding, trustworthy and effectively communicate with community members.

Importantly, you will be a confident content creator with the skills to write compelling and emotive stories of high quality have strong attention to detail. Moreover, you will have strong interpersonal skills and practical communication skills and engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

Please note: A current Manual Driver’s Licence, a Working with Children’s Card, and a criminal history check will be required before commencing this role. You will also be required to have received all three doses of your COVID-19 vaccine.

This role comes with a competitive salary circa $72,597.80 – $75,673.47 (dependent on your skills and experience) PLUS 10% super.

You will receive fantastic benefits such as salary sacrificing options, a vehicle and a remote area allowance of up to $1,039. We will also provide you with relocation assistance of up to $5,000 to help you move to this beautiful part of the country!
