The Aged Care programs are tailored to each individual to ensure it meets their interests, customs, beliefs and cultural backgrounds, ensuring they feel valued and nurtured. The program provides good quality, culturally appropriate care that is acceptable to and accessible by the community.

Are you an experienced professional who is passionate about aged care? Join the team in Katherine as a full-time Community Care Manager overseeing the leadership and management of the Aged Care programs and ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of the program in the region. This role ensures that a wide community of people can have a positive and fulfilling experience within the programs. Although you will be based in Katherine, self-dictated travel to communities in the region will be required. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, your core duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing of the Aged Care programs – Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Home Care Packages (CP), National Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care (NATSIFAC) and Indigenous Employment Initiative program (IEI);
  • Ensuring Aged Care programs are managed and executed successfully with services and that it meets compliance in all communities;
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with appropriate departments of the Northern Territory and Australian governments and agencies relevant to Aged Care; and
  • Developing and implementing strategic and operational plans for Aged Care programs responding to the priorities outlined in the Council’s Regional Plan

What you need to bring to the table

To be successful in this role, you will possess a tertiary qualification in Aged Care, Finance, Management or similar and have demonstrated knowledge and 3 – 5 years experience in successfully managing Aged Care services programs. Although not essential, a tertiary qualification in Public Health, Public Policy, Social Planning or similar is highly desirable.

You will be a proactive and motivating leader with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage and develop staff from different cultural backgrounds and contribute to an innovative and positive working environment that supports people to do the best work they can do.

The Council is looking for an effective and empathetic communicator who is capable of building and maintaining effective working relationships with various levels of government, community leaders and other internal stakeholders. 

Previous experience and knowledge of eTools is highly advantageous.

Please Note: before commencement in this role, it is a requirement that you hold a First Aid Certificate, an open Driver’s Licence (preferably manual) and have completed a Criminal History Check. You are also required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

In return for the work you will be doing, you will receive an attractive salary package circa $105,914 – $114,061 (dependent on experience) plus 10% super, salary sacrificing options and a Remote Area Allowance of $1,039 per annum.
