 About the Opportunity

Victoria Daly Regional Council is now looking for a full-time Community Development Program (CDP) Activity Supervisor to join their team in Kalkarindji, NT. This role is contracted until 30 June 2023. As a CDP Activity Supervisor you will be reporting to the CDP Employment Supervisor and responsible for developing and implementing job seeker activities and supporting training activities for job seekers. You will also be responsible for training and mentoring a group of females, helping them develop their skills and abilities through delivering accredited training in collaboration with training providers in areas such as cooking, sewing and more.

Your day-to-day duties will include (but will not be limited to):

  • Building trusting relationships with colleagues and job seekers;
  • Supporting job seekers to attend identified activities, trainings and appointments;
  • Working with other council departments to optimise outcomes for job seekers, employers and the local community; and
  • Attending job related training as required in accordance with individual training plans.

About You

Candidates who possess a qualification in Community Services will have a distinct advantage in obtaining this CDP Activity Supervisor role, however this qualification is not essential. It would also be advantageous for the successful candidate to have an awareness and appreciation of Domestic Violence and Mental Health issues that are present in remote communities in conjunction with skills in cooking, sewing and other related craft activities. 

Experience working in a remote setting is desired, enabling you to work effectively within indigenous communities and understand the unique challenges of remote Australia, however is not a requirement. 

You will be need to:

  • Be a strong communicator with well-developed interpersonal skills;
  • Have empathy and understanding of cultural barriers faced by CDP participants;
  • Be experienced planning and implementing workplace activities with goals in mind;
  • Have basic computer literacy skills;
  • Have the ability to supervise teams; 
  • Be able to work autonomously; and
  • Have a passion for helping rural community members achieve positive outcomes.

 Please Note: A current Manual Driver's Licence, Working With Children's Check and a Criminal History Check will be required within the first 3 months of starting in the role.
