 About the Opportunity

Victoria Daly Regional Council is now looking for a full-time Comunity Development Program (CDP) Builder / Trainer to join their team in Lajamanu, NT. This role is contracted until 30 June 2022. As a CDP Builder / Trainer you work in collaboration with the CDP site senior to identity and deliver suitable quality projects for job seekers through mentoring and encouraging job seekers to overcome their individual barriers to education and employment

This role is responsible for developing the scope and budget of each proposed project, and managing the development of those projects. This role also provides training and mentoring to participants, helping them develop their skills and abilities, and deliver accredited training in collaboration with training providers where possible. 

Core duties:

  • Assist the CDP site senior to identify suitable projects that will develop job seekers and benefit the community;
  • Clearly identify the skills developed within the project; 
  • Maintain accurate records of job seeker participation at all times;
  • Ensure all personal and confidential material is managed in accordance with organisational guidelines; and
  • Comply with and support the implementation and continuous improvement of all VDRC WHS policies and procedures with a particular focus on legislative compliance and ensuring that a safe working environment is maintained at all times.

About You

To be successful in the CDP Builder / Trainer role you will have a tertiary qualification in building, carpentry, or related trade. You will also have experience as a trainer or educator, ideally in a CDP role. 

Experience working in a remote setting is desired, enabling you to work effectively within indigenous communities and understand the unique challenges of remote Australia, however is not a requirement. 

You will need to be a strong communicator, with well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with job seekers in remote areas. Empathy and an understanding of the complex barriers faced by CDP participants who are culturally and linguistically diverse is also essential. 

You will need to have experience planning and implementing workplace activities with goals and targets in mind, and the ability to supervise teams to achieve positive outcomes. You will work autonomously in achieving goals, so the ability to work independently, following organisational guidelines, policies, and procedures is essential. 

Most importantly, you will have a passion for helping rural community members achieve positive outcomes through the Community Development Program. An understanding of the importance of a robust WHS framework in a dynamic workplace will serve you well in your new role, as will a commitment to championing WHS procedures within CPD operations. 

Please Note: A current Manual Driver's Licence and a criminal history check will be required prior to commencing in this role.
